ABOUT OUR PROJECT:

Bottle Tree Productions has partnered with Upper Canada Village/SLPC to provide theatrical programming pertaining to the cusp of the Confederation of Canada.

The working environment for this job is indoors and outdoors, no air conditioning, period clothing required, in an 1860's farm/village setting. People who have environmental or allergies to animals/plants or who are uncomfortable in period clothing should consider these factors carefully before submitting. There is an expectation that performers will interact with Upper Canada Village staff and with visitors. It will be important be integrated into the life of the Village, and to stay in character while 'on duty' during the day. Actors will deliver scripted material of varying lengths while the Village is open. On Saturday evenings, actors will deliver a full-length scripted play using the existing resources of Upper Canada Village as sets, props and costumes. During the run, a work week may include four days of work during the day, and every Saturday afternoon and evening from July 1 - August 19 inclusive, with an option to extend until August 31. Our five actors will cover the entire week (7 days) of work in a staggered schedule of five days on and two off, in a two-week rotation.

It is likely that rehearsals in Kingston will be Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm. This is not firm.

There is an expectation of commitment to this work as primary, and that actors will not engage with other projects or workplaces for the duration of the contract. There will be no holiday or vacation time granted during the execution of the project.

Travel to Morrisburg is provided. When work is during the weekdays, we estimate that we will leave Kingston at 7:15am and return to Kingston by 6:45pm. Saturdays, we expect to leave Kingston by 12:45, returning to Kingston by midnight. Sunday travel times are expected to be 9:15am, return by 6:45pm.
