Storyline: It's Halloween day. Harvey, a good kid who lost his mother a few years back, is cutting class to spend time at the park they used to visit, dressed as a Lion. Enter Lilly, an 11 year old girl, dressed as a fairytale princess, who's off to defend her fort (a grotesque sewer-pipe sculpture), all by herself. Looking to forget his problems, Harvey gets sucked into Lilly's world of pretend, until things take a turn when Lilly begins to fixate on getting her first kiss from Harvey. Comments: This short film is the 2nd for the Fauxhemian Film Collective, after last years' Bear Hug which screened at film festivals in Milan, New York, and Quebec. Fully funded by a Kingston Arts Council project grant, we aim to continue our tradition of showing Kingston's talent off to the world. The film is heavily reliant on performance, so we are looking for 2 dynamite young actors.
The subject matter and dialogue have mature themes,. We are looking for older

(Lead) HARVEY MALE 1517
Harvey is an old soul, shaped by two very different people. His father was around in short bursts. His mother was his best friend until she passed away a few years back. Lilly discovers him in the midst of a particularly bad day – and the prospect of playing “pretend” with her, and also protecting her from any dangers of the park, distracts him from his angst. But the oasis Lilly provides evaporates quickly when she begins to fixate on getting her first kiss. Harvey wants to protect Lilly from growing up, but ultimately makes things far, far worse. ANY ETHNICITY.

(Lead) LILLY FEMALE
Lilly is a precocious young girl, with a mature voice for her age, who is desperate to get her first kiss. She's the kind of girl who goes in for the kill once she senses power over somebody, especially in the rare circumstance when it is someone older, and won't let her tiny foot off your throat until she gets what she wants. Lilly wants to feel more grown-up, and thinks that getting her kiss will make that happen. She's inquisitive, relentless, intelligent, but doesn't have much empathy. ANY ETHNICITY.

Audition Tips

Auditions can be nerve-wracking experiences, particularly if you are auditioning for a stranger. Here are three tips from our article

“Be Prepared: 10 Audition Tips for New Actors”
  • Take classes.
Develop your network, your resume, and your skills.
  • Learn a two minute monologue from a real play.
    Refrain from using Googlelogues.
  • Don't give up.
If you want to act, you have to audition. Repeatedly.

More tips here.

Monologues

We have information about preparing and delivering monologues, and we have many FREE monologues posted online to help actors with their auditions.

Three New Notices Posted May 30, 2012 <--Click here to skip directly to the audition notices.

**NB We also offer acting classes to all ages (children to adult).

Kingston has many opportunities for actors in theatre and in film. If you are looking for work, paid or unpaid, check back often and ask to be added to our auditions mailing list. You will be notified from time to time when new opportunities are posted here.

Sometimes, other companies let us know about auditions that they are holding. When possible, I will add information to this page about calls in the community, and in larger centres like Toronto and New York. Unless I think that listings outside of our own are particularly attractive, or important, I may not send to my email list. This is to avoid annoying recipients with frequent emails. You are welcome and encouraged to check this page as often as you wish, but I won't spam you with every notice that comes out. However, I will send email each time we are casting shows for our own company.

We make no claims of legitimacy for any posting for casting for any company or person, other than Bottle Tree Productions. We strongly recommend that you find out about the company that you are auditioning for before you accept work, or before you audition for strangers. There are several pages of audition information here on our site. You will also find articles about what to expect for auditions for actors of all ages, as well as monologues for teens, children, and adults.
