JIMMY (Wiping his shirt with a serviette) Very funny. You’re a very funny guy. You should be on the radio. (WILL hands empty glass to CHRISTINE.)
CHRISTINE (Stares at the empty glass) What happened to my water?
WILL (Shrugs) I dunno. Must have...evaporated. (WILL, MEGHAN and CHRISTINE mime their conversation.)
ALEX (At JOE’s table) More coffee? (There is no reaction from JOE) You must be real smart. All them books. Ya going to college are ya?
JOE (Is painfully shy) I, uh, I hope to. Its kind of, it’s kind of a lot of money, and my dad, well, he…
ALEX Whatcha gone be when you grow up? (Laughs) That’s like a joke. Its sposed to be funny.
JOE What? Oh yes. Its quite funny.
ALEX (Puts Coffee pot and the piece of pie on the table and then she sits on the empty chair, hiking her skirt up over her knees) Mind if I take a load off?
JOE (Looks around alarmed.) Should you? Should you be doing that?
ALEX (Pops a stick of gum in her mouth.) I do what I want. So… (Grabbing one of JOE'S books) Watcha readin?
