Statement on summer day camp and COVID-19 measures:

On June 9, the Government of Ontario issued guidelines for the operation of summer day camps for health units moving to Stage 2 in the COVID reopening plan. There are best-practises set forth for the safest operation of summer day camps, which we will be implementing in our camps. The health and safety of our staff and campers is our priority. Camp size is now limited to 10 campers per session. We will be following the best practises guidelines from the government and all requirements set out by our own public health unit, including (but not limited to): appropriate distancing, hand hygeine, increased cleaning and disinfecting of common areas, daily camper and counsellor screening at the start of day, wearing of masks where social distancing cannot be reliably maintained, remaining outdoors for as much of the day as possible.

Our camp course material will be adapted to accommodate COVID restrictions, and the camps may be less focused on an end-of-session performance than in previous years.

About Our Theater Camps:

Your young actor will be able to flex their imagination while building friendships and performance skills in our day camps. Each camp is designed to allow your child to build skills at their own pace, and to have a chance to play and learn in a supportive and caring environment. Our teachers are top-notch, and are themselves artists and performers who are well-known to our company. When possible, we invite guest instructors to help give a bit more pizzazz to a part. These guests are working artists with teaching studios of their own, and include musicians, singers, actors, costume designers, and choreographers.

We take advantage of nearby parks to have lunch and blow off steam - occasionally we use the splash pad at City Park, and rehearse outdoors. Hats, sunscreen, water bottles, a change of clothes, and proper footwear are recommended.

All actors need an audience! Our campers will perform their show for friends and family (and maybe a few strays!) on the last Friday of each session. We celebrate their success and want you to see the fruit of their imagination come to life!

Bottle Tree Productions' Artist Educator Anne Marie Mortensen has this to say about theatre:

Participating in theatre can create life-long friendships, and it can build skills, which builds confidence. There is a place for everyone in the theatre. If you love to be on stage, if you love to write, to sew, to paint, to build, to manage, to design, to dance, to move, to sing, to play, or if what you really love is to watch and be transported - there is a place for you. Belonging to a community is a basic human need that is well-met with this artform. I see how our company has helped people, young and old, to create this community, to move together toward a mutual goal, to support each other and spin gold from straw. In theatre, through story telling, people can create something from nothing. That is magic.
