from the play 'SISTER AIMEE' by Richard Rossi

Sister Aimee is preaching to her congregation early in the twentieth century.

Hallelujah. When my first husband Robert died on the mission field in China, I was penniless and pregnant. I asked why? Why did God bring us all the way to Hong Kong only to have him die? Then he came to me. 'Will you go on with the work?' he asked me. I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then said I, "Here am I, send me." I want to speak of the Holy Spirit tonight. The miracles and healings that happen tonight, will not be from Sister Aimee Semple McPherson. They are directly from God. I have to pay a great price to be a conduit of the Spirit If you only knew. I could take you with me tonight to see the very spot I must go to, after I leave you. My crucifixion. Tonight I must die to myself, and lose my life in order to find it. If only you knew what I'm about to surrender, the way Abraham surrendered his beloved Isaac on the altar. But I must follow the heavenly foursquare vision. It came to me by inspiration in Oakland, California! Every heart was eager to listen, they were leaning forward as with one accord, absorbing the message. My subject was "The Vision of Ezekiel." In the clouds of heaven - which folded and unfolded in fiery glory - Ezekiel beheld that being whose glory no mortal can describe. Will you say "Hallelujah?"
