A Fairytale Medley is exactly that, a great play for an enthusiastic cast of three, or easily divisible into smaller sections for tiny groups of practicing actors. This silly script integrates different fairytales into an interesting collage of scenes including tableaus, storytelling, recognizable references to modern media, and audience participation. It has been used many times very successfully by a traveling acting troupe that tours to schools, birthday parties, and community events. With a lot of interesting, easily-accessible props and fun twists on traditional fairytales, this play is sure to keep both the performers and audience engaged and amused.
A Look All Her Own is a heartwarming, modern Cinderella story about a girl who dares to be different. Cindy is very excited when she learns that Damen Timberly, a famous singer, is coming to town. Damen is holding a contest and the girl who wins will receive a personal serenade from and dinner with Damen. In order to win the contest, Cindy must attend Damen’s concert and qualify under the secret criteria that the singer has written down and sealed in a confidential envelope. Unlike the rest of the girls in town who are fussing over the latest trends, Cindy opts for her own unique fashions. Unfortunately, Cindy’s nasty step-family plots to stop her from attending the concert. This play is perfect for large casts consisting of various age groups.
Angels Expose Leaks in Fairy Tale Land This play was written in cooperation with a twelve-year-old girl and an experienced playwright. Together they created a script that concentrates on two things that young people can’t seem to get enough of – fairytales and crime fighting. Rapunzel, Maid Marion, and Cinderella team up to try and discover who has been leaking information about fairytales to the media. The three ladies end up exposing more than one type of “leak” in fairytale land, before getting to the bottom of the case.
Wax Snapshots of Canadian History This play summarizes the entire grade seven and eight curriculum in a fun and unique way. Mrs. Kerbockle has brought her class to a wax museum to study Canadian History. The Tour Guide shows the class the exhibits, but as soon as the class leaves to view the next display the statues come to life. These statues even use authentic languages as they converse, including English, French, German, and Cree. Beginning with Native Culture and ending with World War I, and everything in between, “Wax Snapshots of Canadian History” completely covers the intermediate Ontario history curriculum.
The Legend of the Lost and Found Box-Young actors will have a great time with this hilarious four-person play. The characters display determination, teamwork, and sense of humour as they overcome fears of the dreaded lost and found box, a haven of discarded “treasures” and subject of a school legend. This play takes the ordinary, a simple prop-a big box, and turns it into a fun romp, with audience participation even possible!
The Potato Conspiracy is about a covert group of alternative thinkers, known as The Rogue Cortex, who are trying to alert the world to the negative effects of continuous television watching. The Rogue Cortex has discovered that when people watch too much TV, they turn into potatoes. Although the broadcasting companies have been trying to hide the damaging side effects of their programming, The Rogue Cortex is determined to tell the public the truth. This play offers fun and original characters, a compelling plot, and a profound ending. The message conveyed in this script is very important, as the TV does seem to victimize many people in today’s society.
The Potato Conspiracy Reenacted (Part 2) The Rogue Cortex is back, but this time their main objective is to escape from Jeopardy’s prison. Jeopardy is the head of a major television-programming corporation. He is using television to try and brainwash the public into compliance. One of the side effects of his actions is that people are turning into potatoes. This play is an exciting sequel to the first, but also stands on its own. New and interesting characters are introduced, old characters are further developed, and the potato plot thickens. Treachery, deceit, failure, and triumph are the components that make this play as thrilling as the first.
